Lenell Geter—author, motivational speaker, consultant—has traveled from coast to coast to share his methods for developing a winner’s attitude and, most importantly, freedom from Self-limiting confinement which leads to doubt, poor self-image, and low goals. Using methods, which are directly transferable to one’s life, Lenell’s “Five Attitudes for Success” enable families and individuals to overcome adversity and to lead successful lives.

But why should you listen to Lenell Geter?

In 1982, Lenell faced what every person fears: he lost his freedom when he was arrested, convicted, and sentenced to life in prison for a crime he did not commit…even though professional colleagues corroborated his whereabouts when the crime occurred. He credits, "faith in God" as aiding in his withstanding the cold, cruel, and dangerous life in the Texas Department of Correction.

In pursuit of justice, family members and coworkers held fund-raisers, met with attorneys, and persuaded the media to pay attention to his plight. During Lenell’s 16 months of incarceration in a maximum-security facility, the NAACP, local media and CBS’S 60 Minutes—among others—investigated and uncovered evidence leading to Lenell’s release and vindication by the state of Texas. On February 3, 1987, CBS aired “Guilty of Innocence: The Lenell Geter Story”, a major motion picture for television depicting the circumstances that led to his wrongful incarceration and his personal victory…a victory worn out of faith, determination and the strength of his principles of life.

As the author of Overcome, Succeed and Prosper, Lenell has shared his “Five Attitudes for Success” across the country and has risen to become a motivational speaker of national acclaim. He is a member and professional speaker with the National Speakers Association. He is frequently honored for his talents and abilities and has received the Key To The City from several areas where he has worked.

Lenell has appeared as a guest on CBS, NBC and ABC television networks; he has been written about in People Magazine, Lawyer Magazine, Texas Monthly, Jet Magazine and scores of newspapers. He has also appeared on ABC’s Nightline with Ted Koppel and most recently, the NBC Today Show.

Lenell Geter has earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology; however, now he is positively engineering people to have faith and to believe that they can overcome Self-limiting confinement. He is ready today to share his insights…at colleges and universities; he tells students that “obstacles will be their companion on the road to achieving thei r goals and dreams; however, the manner in which they respond to those challenges will ultimately determine their destinies." Lenell and his wife, Marcia Geter, reside in South Carolina, and they have three daughters, Marquita, Nzinga and Zakiya Geter.
